Domaine de Grachies '09 Cotes de Gascogne, France
Hailing from the South-West of France, this wine is very fresh and fruity with citrus & orchard fruit flavours. Think grapefruit, apple and lemon. Oddly enough, these are some of the flavours that I crave when the weather turns warm. As we enter late-summer and the days continue to be on the warmer side, this is a good one to quench the thirst.
As something to start the evening off, this is a good choice as it makes for a fine aperitif. If on the other hand you are having this with food, some pairings to consider are fresh garden salad (think Farmer's Market), the bounty of our local sea or with our fine feathered friends.

Prado Rey "bl8" '09 birlocho, Spain
This wine has some zing! This is a well balanced white with nice acidity, lovely aromatics of stone fruit and crisp tropical fruit on the palate. A blend of 85% Verdejo and 15% Viura sourced from 60 year old vines planted in clayish soil within the terms of La Seca, a small location in the heart of the Denomination of Origen Rueda. After full malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged for 3 months on the lees.
